Amorim makes surprising admission about Man United players which could get him sacked soon
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim finds himself under mounting pressure after a nightmare start to the 2025–26 season.
In a recent interview with former midfielder Owen Hargreaves, Amorim openly admitted he has no idea how his players will perform from one match to the next.
He said (via TNT Sports Football): “You need to have a team and understand how the game will be.
“With my team at the moment, you never know. That feeling of uncertainty.
“If they are connected, we will be fine. We may not play well, but we will be fine. If you are not connected, you never know.”
Amorim must take responsibility for results
Despite being in charge for almost a year, Amorim has failed to stitch together back-to-back Premier League wins.
Last season ended with a disastrous 15th-place league finish, the worst in United’s storied history.
After a promising pre-season and big summer signings, expectations were higher.
Instead, seven points from six league games have left Amorim teetering on the brink of the sack.
The 40-year-old has come across as a very honest and passionate coach in interviews.
However, this interview has only increased doubts over his leadership.
There is only a thin line between honesty and naivety.
A United manager cannot stand in front of the cameras and admit he does not know what to expect from his own players.
Supporters are unlikely to believe in a coach who has already admitted he does not fully believe in his team.
The role of the manager is to visualise the game, to anticipate how it might unfold, and to identify which players can execute the plan on the day.
If Amorim cannot form that picture, then perhaps it is time to shake hands with the hierarchy and make a dignified exit from Old Trafford.
