Man Utd want to sign 25-year-old striker in huge bargain deal - report
Manchester United could bring in a new striker on a free transfer next summer, according to Bild.
The Red Devils reinforced their centre-forward department with the signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko last month.
The Slovenian is adapting to the demands of the Premier League and recently scored his maiden club goal at Brentford.
Joshua Zirkzee is the immediate backup for Sesko on the bench, but he has failed to meet expectations since his arrival.
This could urge United to pursue an alternative. Bild claim that the club are in the picture to sign Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic.
Bayern Munich are weighing up a Bosman deal for the Serbian, but they are likely to face competition from the Red Devils.
Vlahovic speculation could be agent-driven
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the last few seasons.
He was mentioned as a potential target for the Red Devils earlier this summer, but the club did not make any kind of approach.
After missing out on some key targets, the club were focused on purchasing Sesko from Leipzig.
The club may still want a cost-effective signing as a competitor, as Zirkzee has looked out of sorts since his move from Bologna.
Vlahovic, who has four goals already this season, has been linked, but the speculation could be agent-driven, in our opinion.
The Serbian would not suit Ruben Amorim’s playing style. He is a traditional striker and not necessarily known for his quality on the ball.
He has averaged just three passes per league game this term, winning only 33 percent of his duels.
Vlahovic has not netted more than 18 goals in a season since he arrived at Juventus.
With the Premier League being more intense than Serie A, the former Fiorentina man could face a similar struggle to Zirkzee.
We believe United are being used to intensify interest from elsewhere by his representative.
