Lucas Bergvall reveals big change in his game under Thomas Frank at Tottenham
Lucas Bergvall has said something fascinating when asked about how his game has changed since Thomas Frank walked through the door at Tottenham in the summer.
Even though the Swede had an outstanding first season at Spurs, many feel that Bergvall has made a big leap forward under Thomas Frank this season.
The 19-year-old was not a regular in the side for the first few games of the season, but has made himself nearly undroppable with the performances he has delivered over recent weeks.
Frank has admitted that Bergvall has a very high ceiling, and Spurs fans will be hoping that the Dane is the right man to get the best out of the midfielder, given his track record of improving players at Brentford.
Lucas Bergvall says his position has changed at Tottenham
Last week, Frank revealed that he and the coaches are working with Bergvall to time his runs better and be more clever in his pressing.
The Swede has now made an interesting revelation about his role under the new Tottenham boss, revealing that he is now more of a number 10 rather than a number 8.
When asked what he has been working on with Frank, Bergvall responded (via Football.London): “It’s a great question. I feel like I’m getting better every day. I played a bit of an eight in the beginning, now more of a 10 in the end.
“And it feels like I’m adding more and more to my game every day. So yeah, I try to help the team with contributions, with goals and assists as well. So just getting better every day and improving, yeah.”
Bergvall has his eyes on the Champions League prize
The teenager is getting his first taste of Champions League football this season, and he admits that he dreams of one day winning the tournament.
He acknowledged that this evening’s clash against Bodo/Glimt will be different from the one in May, given that both sides are now meeting in Europe’s premier competition.
When asked if the tie feels different from the one five months ago, given that it is a Champions League game, Bergvall responded: “Yes, it’s a big difference. It’s the best thing for me, as a player, to win the Champions League.
“It’s next level, but it’s going to be a good game. A tough game. Bodo/Glimt is a good team, so we need to go out there and perform well.”
