Hunter Henry’s Heartwarming Move After TreVeyon Henderson’s First Patriots TD
A lot went right for the New England Patriots in their Week 4 demolition of the Carolina Panthers. Along the way, rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson scored his first NFL touchdown, which led to a heartwarming move from tight end Hunter Henry afterwards.
After putting together a strong body of work over the summer for the Pats, Henderson has struggled to get off the ground in his rookie season, as he’s received fewer touches than both Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson, while also struggling with his blocking assignments on several occasions.
Henderson enjoyed his most consistent outing in Week 4, racking up 32 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, while also catching two passes for 14 yards. As noted above, the touchdown was the first of Henderson’s career, so Henry made sure to retrieve the football and give it to his teammate after the play.
“I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s TreVeyon. I’m pretty sure that’s the first one. Let me just grab it,'” Henry said to his teammates on the sidelines after Henderson’s score.
As one of the veteran leaders of the team, Henry is always looking out for his teammates, especially the rookies. And when they achieve a major accomplishment, he wants to ensure that they celebrate the moment as they should.
“I remember those moments, and your first touchdown is huge in this league, it’s so hard for you to score, so it’s a pretty special moment for him,” Henry said after the game.
It was only a matter of time until Henderson found his way into the endzone, but it’s clear he and the team have bigger fish to fry moving forward. That’s because in Week 5, the Patriots draw a daunting Sunday Night Football matchup against their AFC East rival, the Buffalo Bills.
