Rich Eisen Shares Compelling Thoughts On Drake Maye’s Progress

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has impressed this season, prompting ESPN radio host Rich Eisen to praise the second-year quarterback.

“Drake Maye has 100% taken the biggest leap and is playing the best out of anybody that was drafted in the first round of last year’s draft,” Eisen said Monday.

Eisen’s comment that Maye is making the most significant leap of any quarterback picked in the 2024 NFL Draft stands out, mainly since the Washington Commanders chose Jayden Daniels just one pick ahead of Maye. Daniels, who missed the last two games due to an injury, led the Commanders to the NFC Championship last season and earned the title of NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Maye looks cool and comfortable running New England’s offense, and a lot of that has to do with working under veteran offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

McDaniels has strongly supported Maye throughout the season and has praised Maye’s in-game communication.

“He sees the game very, very well, McDaniels said on Sept. 18, via NBC Sports Boston. “The conversations you have are accurate. If you ask him a question, you’re gonna get the right answer. It’s not maybe the best answer that we could have done, but he knows exactly what took place on the field.

“He’s always honest, very informative, wants to do it the right way, takes coaching extremely well. Fantastic, to answer your question.”

Maye and McDaniels have only worked together for four games, but it sure seems like the two will have a bright future in New England.
