Celtics Player Provides Inspiring Update On Jayson Tatum’s Recovery

Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles tendon during the Eastern Conference semifinals in May. Tatum has been rehabbing his injury for the last four to five months, and his teammate Sam Hauser noticed Tatum working hard.

“He’s working his tail off,” Hauser said Monday, via WEEI’s Justin Turpin. “He’s in early, he’s the last one out. He’s doing everything he can to try to get back and play as soon as possible. It’s been pretty inspiring to watch.”

Players typically need about a year to recover from an Achilles tear, but Tatum seems to be in a good place in his rehab, which might allow him to return sooner.

“I’m in a really good spot. It’ll be five months tomorrow,” Tatum said Monday. “Being able to participate in a basketball workout was one of the more bright spots in this journey. Feeling like a basketball player again.”

Tatum is the heart and soul of the Celtics, and without him on the court, players like Hauser will need to step up to fill his shoes.

It’s always unfortunate when a star player suffers a significant injury. However, the Celtics can take this opportunity to assess which players will be part of Boston’s future and who can provide support for Tatum when he returns to the lineup.
