Dalot makes injury return, 21yo academy star joins Man United training ahead of Brentford clash
Manchester United have been handed a huge boost ahead of their Premier League showdown with Brentford this weekend.
Man United have confirmed that Diogo Dalot has returned to full training.
The setback ruled him out of two high-profile clashes against Manchester City and Chelsea, where his presence was sorely missed.
Manager Ruben Amorim could confirm in his press conference later this week whether Dalot is fit enough to start the game at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The 26-year-old is the youngest member of the six-man leadership group formed by Amorim at the start of the campaign.
His availability offers Amorim fresh tactical flexibility in the wing-back roles.
Dalot traditionally plays on the right side of the defence but has occasionally shown the versatility to operate as a left wing-back.
He excelled in that role against Burnley, capping his performance with a smart assist for Bryan Mbeumo’s strike.
United also confirmed that youngster Sam Mather was part of the group that trained on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old forward has outgrown youth football after lighting up both the Under-18s and Under-21s.
He has played over 60 times for the development teams, and has netted 29 goals and registered 22 assists.
He was desperate to seal a permanent move away this summer.
The Red Devils agreed a fee with the Turkish outfit Kayserispor for his transfer.
They also agreed to a buy-back clause but decided against giving the final sign-off, feeling they did not have enough time to complete the transfer.
Mather may train regularly with the first-team squad until the transfer window reopens in January.
