The Scotland international was given a rare start this evening as part of squad rotation and took full advantage of the opportunity.
Leonardo Spinazzola pulled back from the left by-line for Gilmour, who took a touch and with a deft dummy sent the Pisa defender to ground, allowing him to steer a deflected finish into the far bottom corner off Simone Canestrelli.

Not only had the 24-year-old never scored before in a Napoli shirt, this was his first ever goal in senior club football, after firing blanks for Chelsea, Norwich City and Brighton and Hove Albion.
He did manage to find the net twice for Scotland at senior level in 40 caps.
