Ballon d’Or 2025 – Donnarumma ranks 9th but is named best goalkeeper
Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been voted in 9th place in this year’s Ballon d’Or rankings, whilst winning the Yashin Trophy.
The Italian had an impressive season with Paris Saint-Germain last campaign, helping the Ligue 1 side lift the Champions League for the first time.
In fact, Donnarumma was integral to PSG’s continental glory, making some phenomenal saves in knock-out games against the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal.
The Italian was voted into the Champions League team of the season and played a part as the Parisian side finished as runners-up in the reformatted Club World Cup.
Donnarumma gets recognition after summer saga
Despite his incredible performances for PSG last season, the French club actually moved to replace him this summer.
The Ligue 1 side signed Lucas Chevalier from fellow French outfit Lille, after head coach Luis Enrique admitted to the board that he would rather than a number-one a bit more in line with his style of play.
Therefore, despite arguably being one of PSG’s best players last season, he was sold in the summer.
Premier League giants Manchester City made their move, and so far the Italian has conceded just one goal in two big games against rivals Manchester United and Arsenal.
