Pat McAfee Drops NSFW Truth Bomb On Patriots’ Turnover Woes
The New England Patriots suffered an ugly 21-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3, and while they were largely the better team in this game, they were unable to win because they committed five turnovers, two of which took place in the Steelers’ endzone.
While quarterback Drake Maye had a strong day under center, he threw an interception and lost a fumble for New England. Making matters worse, running back Rhamondre Stevenson, who struggled with fumbles all year in 2024, lost two on Sunday, while Antonio Gibson also had a fumble that was recovered by Pittsburgh.
Considering how well the offense was moving the football otherwise, it only makes things more frustrating for the team. When discussing the team’s loss, former Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee did not hold back, issuing an NSFW message regarding the Pats’ turnover woes.
“I mean, they gave up 14 points. Two turnovers in the endzone, that’s tough,” McAfee said on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “The amount of work it takes to get all the way down to the endzone, the amount of first downs, the amount of s*** that goes into you getting there, to even be in position to score.”
“And then to just f***ing give it away is the worst, demoralizing situation for the whole team. The whole team is like, ‘Oh no, that’s potentially a 14-point swing every single time.'”
It’s tough to pin any loss in any sport on one single issue, but it seems safe to say that if the Patriots didn’t commit five turnovers in this game, they would have won. However, these are the sorts of growing pains the team has to endure in order to take the next step forward.
There are silver linings from this loss, but they are tougher to acknowledge when considering how New England lost. The team will look to get back on track when it returns to action in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers.
