Ballon d’Or 2025 – Napoli sensation McTominay comes in 18th
Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay has been voted as 18th place in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings, after an impressive first season in Naples under head coach Antonio Conte.
The Scottish centre-mid joined the Neapolitan side from Premier League giants Manchester United last summer and has since become one of the best players in Serie A.
After helping Conte’s side lift the Scudetto last season, McTominay was named as the Serie A MVP of the season.
His next reward came when the Scotsman was nominated for the Ballon d’Or for the first time.
Now, as has been revealed through the award’s official X account, McTominay has finished in 18th place in the competition.
It makes him the highest-ranking Serie A player, as Inter’s Denzel Dumfries was 25th and Lautaro Martinez 20th.

The Scottish international signed for Napoli last summer for a reported fee of around €30 million – and it quickly revealed itself to be money well spent.
McTominay played 36 times for Napoli last season across Serie A and Coppa Italia, scoring an impressive 13 goals and picking up an additional six assists.
This season, the Scotsman has already found the back of the net once for his side, in their 2-0 opening game win against Sassuolo.
