NBA Assistant Coach Bashes Trail Blazers For Jrue Holiday Trade
The Boston Celtics’ first big move of a busy offseason was trading guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for a package that included fellow guard Anfernee Simons.
The move may have contributed to the Celtics earning what some have called the worst offseason in the NBA.
One assistant coach, however, bashed the Trail Blazers for the move in ESPN’s annual NBA offseason survey.
One of the questions in the survey asked, “What was the worst move of the offseason?” There were three respondents that picked Portland’s deal for Holiday.
“I just don’t get what they are trying to do,” a Western conference assistant said of the move. “You can’t get enough time for all of their guards.”
The Trail Blazers’ other biggest acquisition of the summer was franchise legend Damian Lillard, who they signed in July, two years after he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Among the other notable guards on Portland’s roster along with Holiday and Lillard are 2022 first-round pick Shaedon Sharpe, 2023 third overall pick Scott Henderson and former Arizona star Caleb Love, who the team signed to a two-way contract in July.
