News from week commencing 15th September 2025

There were no Woking Academy representative games last week.

The under 17s travelled to play Bognor Regis Town (at Chichester City) on Wednesday 17th in the FA Youth Cup First Qualifying Round, representing Westfield. They did take a 3 – 0 lead, but were pegged back to a 4 – 4 draw, and then defeated 4 – 2 on penalty kicks.

Having had game time with the First team during pre-season, Joden Trickett (EDS, Forward) made his competitive debut coming on as a 70th minute substitute against Southampton U21s in the National League Cup on Tuesday 16th September. Joden, as always, worked hard, but Woking were rather laboured and there were no opportunities for him to demonstrate his finishing prowess.

The under 18s have been drawn to play at Merstham in the FA Youth Cup Second Round of Qualifying (where Woking enter the competition), with the game to take place on Wednesday 1st October. Merstham were convincing 5 – 0 victors over Met. Police in the previous round, with strength and pace throughout the team and a variety of patterns of play. Woking will need to be at their best, and work hard, in order to meet the challenge of a club which reached the Fourth Round Proper last season.

Tom Dryer, Midfield, EDS – Westfield: Came on as a 73rd minute substitute in the 0 – 6 defeat at Horsham in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay. Quincy Patterson was an unused substitute for this match. (Ex-Card Greg Luer was among the scorers.)

Jack Lewis, Defender, EDS – Fleet Town: Made his debut coming on at half-time (with Fleet 1 – 0 in the lead), in the 3 – 1 victory at Camberley Town in the Premier Challenge (League) Cup Second Round.

Saturday 20th September

Tom Dryer, Midfield, EDS – Westfield: Came on as a 24th minute substitute in the match against Bognor Regis Town in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round. Tom’s cross set up the goal headed in by Finn Evans after sixty minutes which gave Westfield a 1 – 0 lead. Bognor equalised on 84 minutes. Westfield won the penalty shoot-out 4 – 3, although Tom wasn’t called on to take one.

Luke Staight, Midfield, EDS – Broadbridge Heath: Played the full game in the 2 – 1 victory over Bedfont Sports in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round.

Joden Trickett, Forward, EDS – Ascot United: Came on as a substitute in the 79th minute in the 2 – 2 draw at Hadley in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round. Hadley won the penalty shoot-out 7 – 6 (after nine penalties each).

Sonny Parkes, Defender, EDS – Hayes & Yeading United: Came on as an 88th minute substitute, with the scoring already completed, in the 5 – 1 victory over Southall in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round.

League fixture (home) details for the 2025/26 season

EDS, National League Under 19 Academy South Division. Midweek, daytime, at either Westfield Football Club or Woking College.

Woking play in the Premier Division of the Suburban Football League. Whilst there is not an age limit for this League most teams view it as a predominantly youth league, and Woking field a team based on second years, with some first years, and some from the EDS. Knaphill FC, 19:30, Thursday.

The National League structure also offers Woking a place in Division F of their Alliance Leagues. This team is largely made up of second years, with opportunities for ‘progressing’ first years. Woking College, Wednesday, daytime.

Woking continue in the Central Division of the Isthmian League Youth system. The league is for under 18s, although in recent seasons Woking have fielded a team largely made up of first years. Knaphill FC, 19:30, Thursday.
