Steelers’ Jabrill Peppers Received This Honor After Beating Patriots

Jabrill Peppers had a successful return to Gillette Stadium on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ latest defensive addition played well during his second game with the club, recording six total tackles in a victory over the New England Patriots… the team who cut him back on Aug. 29.

Peppers played well enough to receive a game ball from Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin — though he probably would have gotten one anyway.

“I needed this one,” Peppers said following the game, per PennLive’s Nick Farabaugh.

Peppers’ career came to an awkward end at One Patriot Place, as the decision caused a lot of questions as to why the move was made — even from the man himself.

“I would say about an eight,” Peppers said of his surprise level, per MassLive’s Chris Mason. “No hard feelings, baby. It’s business. I already had a chip on my shoulder… I just was happy I was able to put everything behind me. I wanted to come into this year just with a new sense of gratitude. A chip on my shoulder. It just added to it. I was grateful Mike (Tomlin) made the call. I’m part of the Steelers now. I’ll do whatever I’ve gotta do to help this team win football games.”

Peppers now has the closure he was looking for, and gets to move on with a 2-1 team instead of a 1-2 team.
