Maguire names two young Man United stars who have 'impressed' him in training
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has named two young players who have “impressed” him in training sessions.
Maguire recently made his 250th appearance for Man United when he came off the bench against Manchester City last weekend.
Speaking with Sky Sports, Maguire was quizzed on the potential of Benjamin Sesko and Senne Lammens.
He said: “I think he (Sesko) is going to be an excellent player for the club.
“I’ve been really impressed with him in training, his finishing is excellent and I believe he’s going to score goals for this club for many years.”
The England international also applauded the raw abilities of goalkeeper Senne Lammens.
He said: “Another player I must say I have been so impressed in the training.
“I think he has all the fundamentals to be a really, really top class goalkeeper. He is great with his feet, he is big presence and he is really good shot-stopper.
“I am sure he is gonna deal with the pressure and I am sure he will have a long future at this club.”
Sesko and Lammens could start tomorrow
Sesko earned his first Premier League start in the Manchester derby, showing composure with his first touch.
However, a lack of service denied him the chance to test City’s defence.
There is no doubt that Sesko is a fantastic talent but he will need time to adapt to the physical demands of the English top flight.
He will be eager to test Chelsea’s defence, who allowed Bayern Munich to score three goals past them in midweek.
Lammens could also make his United debut after unconvincing displays from Altay Bayindir.
Ruben Amorim has persisted with the Turkish goalkeeper following Andre Onana’s exit, but Bayindir has looked uncertain, especially when defending set-pieces.
A calm and commanding Lammens between the sticks could bring a new level of confidence to United’s fragile defence.
