Former Roma talent Zaniolo reveals why he joined Udinese
Nicolo Zaniolo joined Udinese this summer on loan from Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old signed for the Friulani on a season-long loan for €2.5 million, with two different buy options at the end of the season.
Either Udinese can sign him for €5 million and Galatasaray retaining a 50% sell-on fee. Alternatively, the Serie A side can pay €10 million to purchase him outright.
Zaniolo reveals why he chose Udinese
Speaking to Sky Sport, Zaniolo reveals why he chose to sign for Udinese:
“I’m happy, I have positive feelings, the staff are well-prepared and Runjaic is a great coach. Udinese really wanted me, and I really wanted Udinese, I can’t wait to get started. I decided to come here because I felt strong interest from the club. At this point in my career, I need to feel appreciated, we can do well this year.”
The former Roma man was once destined for big things but his career has fizzled out slightly since his initial hype. Injuries and off-the-pitch controversies have not helped but now he is looking to get his career back on track at Udinese.
“I feel changed and grown, the goal is to be happy and get back to enjoying playing football.”
Finally, the Italian concluded by saying it would be “a dream” to receive a call-up to the national team but acknowledges “I have to do well here and prove the player I am.”
