THE LOWDOWN
The girls trail 4-1 on aggregate heading into the second leg in Leith, but remain optimistic following an improved second-half showing in Milan heading into the second leg.
It was a tough first 45 for the Hibees, who went down 2-0 inside 10 minutes before conceding immediately after the restart, also. Eilidh Adams was at hand to pull Hibs back into the tie, before a late counter allowed Inter to snatch a fourth on the night.
There was undoubtedly a much-improved second half performance from the team, however, and morale in the camp remains high following a strong league victory on Sunday afternoon at Meadowbank.
Kathleen McGovern grabbed her second hat-trick of the campaign as Hibs Women put five past Montrose without reply. Kirsty Morrison and Linzi Taylor also got on the scoresheet, with both players netting their first goals of the season.
THE VISITORS
Inter Milan entered the Europa Cup following their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round play-off victory over Icelandic champions Valur – having been beaten by Brann days earlier in the semi-final.
After defeating Hibs Women in the first leg of our tie last week, Inter would lose 1-0 to Como in the 2025 Serie A Women’s Cup – with Alisha Lehmann scoring the only goal of the match.
Inter made nine changes to their squad heading into the cup clash, showing their priorities lie with the Europa Cup and Wednesday’s meeting at Easter Road.
Despite the defeat, Inter still progressed to the semi-final stage of the domestic competition on goal difference over Fiorentina.
