Sassuolo forward Berardi on victory over Lazio: ‘To win, you must make sacrifices’
Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi praised his team’s spirit as “eleven lions” as they secured a 1-0 win against Lazio.
Sassuolo picked up an important three points today with the narrow win over a flat Biancocelesti side.
Maurizio Sarri’s side looked poor and failed to settle into any groove in the match.
Berardi: ‘You have to make sacrifices to win in Serie A’
Speaking to Sky Sport after the game, with quotes via La Lazio Siamo Noi, Berardi said “To win, you have to make sacrifices and today we all did.”
“We’ve been working hard for two weeks,” Berardi added, “To win in Serie A you have to be eleven lions. We were that today and we must continue on this path.”
Sassuolo secure narrow victory against lacklustre Lazio
Disaster nearly struck earlier on for the Neroverdi when Aster Vranckx was shown a red card in the first half, only for the referee to overturn it through the help of the VAR.
The red card sucked a lot of energy out of the game and a few minutes later, Lazio midfielder Nicolo Rovella was forced off through injury.
The only goal came in the 70th minute when Alieu Fadera found himself in the right place at the right time after a corner kick and was able to simply knock the ball into the goal.
Lazio failed to get themselves back in the match and leave Sassuolo with nothing.
