Sky Sports pundit says he is 'worried about Man Utd man' after Man City thrashing
Manchester United crashed to a humiliating 3-0 derby defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The Red Devils actually started on the front foot, but one dazzling run from Jeremy Doku ended with Phil Foden nodding home the opener.
A comedy of errors in quick succession helped Erling Haaland score twice and put the game to bed.
Not only the result but also United’s performance was way below the required standards.
Former Man United captain Gary Neville was critical of the team at full-time.
He said on Sky Sports: “I think there will be some pressure applied to the manager and his rigidity of sticking with the system.
“There have been times when I have seen United lose this type of match when I feel angry and frustrated. I just feel nothing, which is even worse. This has been a nothing of a performance.
“With Chelsea next week, another defeat and big questions would start to be asked.
“I’m worried about the manager, I’m worried about what’s going to happen in this next few weeks. I don’t think it’s a time for panic, but I’ve seen this before, we’ve seen this film.”
Amorim’s job is in serious danger
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has so far stood firmly behind Ruben Amorim.
INEOS backed their man in the summer, splashing more than £200 million on new signings to support his vision.
After all, Amorim was their appointment, chosen to replace Erik ten Hag.
However, the results have consistently gone downhill under his reign.
The Red Devils finished 15th in the league last term, and have already slipped to 14th after just four games of the 2025-26 season.
The optimism of pre-season quickly evaporated after a shocking Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town.
This latest defeat has turned up the heat on both INEOS and their manager.
A new formation alone will not magically fix things, but the cracks in Amorim’s system are glaring.
Another poor result against Chelsea next weekend could bring an early end to Amorim’s time at Old Trafford.
