Thomas Frank gives update on Dominic Solanke’s ankle injury and surgery fears at Tottenham

0 30

Thomas Frank has provided a clear update on Dominic Solanke’s ankle issue at Tottenham, addressing whether surgery could be required.

Thomas Frank gave a very positive injury update earlier this afternoon, stating that the majority of his players are back fit after returning from international duty.

Regardless, Tottenham Hotspur still have some injuries to contend with, although the majority of those remain long-term absences.

Dominic Solanke is the latest to head to the treatment table, having missed out on the fixture against Bournemouth in matchweek three because of an ankle problem, and he remains unavailable for this weekend’s clash against West Ham United.

Thomas Frank reveals Tottenham’s plan for Dominic Solanke

It was reported during the international break that Dominic Solanke’s ankle could require surgery, but those claims were quickly dismissed.

Speaking to football.london, Thomas Frank has now addressed Dominic Solanke’s condition and explained what Tottenham are doing to ensure the striker recovers properly.

The manager was asked whether surgery might still be on the table and what the current plan for the forward looks like.

Frank said: “I think right now we are doing everything we can – the medical team – to get on top of it and that is what we are focusing on. I get a feeling he is not too far away, but he has just fallen short for this week.”

Dominic Solanke’s start to Spurs season and Frank’s plans for Muani

Solanke’s 25/26 season has not been off to the smoothest start, with the Englishman yet to enjoy a consistent run of games in the Tottenham squad.

The 27-year-old has been carrying injuries since Spurs’ pre-season tour and, with more than three weeks of the season already gone, he is still waiting to return to full fitness.

While that is a setback, Frank is not likely to lose too much sleep over Solanke’s absence, given that he has other attacking options available, with Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani both able to lead the line.

The manager has even hinted at what his plans are for the new loan signing ahead of the meeting with West Ham United this weekend.
