Man United include Tyrell Malacia in the 2025-26 Premier League squad
Manchester United have announced their 21-man squad for the 2025/26 Premier League season.
They can now make changes only when the transfer window opens in January.
While most selections came as no surprise, one inclusion has raised plenty of eyebrows.
Tyrell Malacia has been handed a shock place in the squad after failing to secure a move this summer.
Malacia was one of the five members of the infamous ‘bomb squad’.
That group also featured Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Jadon Sancho.
Rashford and Sancho secured loan moves to Barcelona and Aston Villa.
Sancho, now in the final year of his deal, looks destined to leave Old Trafford as a free agent next July.
Garnacho sealed a £40 million transfer to Chelsea in the final week of the English transfer window, while Antony followed suit with a transfer to Real Betis.
Malacia’s inclusion is the biggest surprise of all, given he has been completely frozen out of Ruben Amorim’s plans.
The left-back has endured a torrid spell, spending nearly 18 months sidelined with a persistent knee problem that required multiple surgeries.
United have reinforced the role with the arrivals of Patrick Dorgu and Diego Leon over the past six months.
Diogo Dalot also offers cover in the same position, further pushing Malacia down the pecking order.
Both Elche CF and Eyupspor had lined up loan deals for the defender, but negotiations collapsed in the final stages.
Malacia has been exiled from the main group, training separately for the past two months.
Whether Amorim will reintegrate him into first-team training sessions remains an open question.
