Former Celtics Guard Agrees To One-Year Deal With Knicks
Former Boston Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon on Friday agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN.
Brogdon is entering his 10th NBA season and was a significant factor throughout the 2022-23 Celtics season. Although he spent just one season with the team, he achieved remarkable success. Brogdon won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, averaging 14.9 points, 3.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 67 games.
Brogdon was a key part of the trade package that brought point guard Jrue Holiday from the Portland Trail Blazers to Boston. Holiday played a pivotal part in the Celtics’ 2024 championship season.
Brogdon brings 43 games of playoff experience to the Knicks, who are looking to make another postseason run next year.
New York defeated the Celtics in six games during last season’s Eastern Conference semi-finals. However, their journey came to an end when the Indiana Pacers beat them in the Eastern Conference finals.
With Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton potentially sidelined for the entire season due to Achilles injuries, the Eastern Conference is now wide open.
New York has the second-best odds to win the Eastern Conference finals next season behind the Cleveland Cavaliers, per ESPN.
