Keep an eye out for the Spiders Skipper

Keep and Eye out for the Spiders Skipper

QUEEN’S PARK fan Sophia Bienkowski was smiling from ear to ear despite defeat against Arbroath last month.

The 11-year-old supporter stayed behind to cheer the team off the pitch at The city Stadium after a 3-1 defeat in the William Hill Championship.

But the long face from losing was soon gone thanks to a gift from Spiders skipper Euan Murray.

He picked out the youngster at the final whistle and gifted her his signed captain’s armband – straight from his arm.

The captain’s armband is a special token which will be presented to a fan after every home game this season in association with the Queen’s Park Supporters’ Association, whose new-look emblem is also included.

Sophia’s special memento will join various other Queen’s Park memorabilia on the football-daft Braidbar Primary School pupil’s wall.

She attended the match with grandad Chris and has had a Spiders season ticket for the past three seasons – managing to attend all the home games and travelling to half the club’s away games each season.

As well as Euan Murray’s gift that left her grinning, the youngster has also been a long-time fan of his defensive team-mate Charlie Fox as well as Callum Ferrie though this season she’s also become a big fan of Tyrece McDonnell and Timam Scott.

And Euan’s gift also means she matches older brother Jack – he landed a similar gift several seasons ago when Michael Doyle presented his captain’s armband to the young supporter too.

The next recipient will receive the signed armband at the end of the match with Morton.
