Deadline day drama: Man United deal with Turkish club on the 'verge of collapse'
Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia looks set to fail for a second time in his bid to quit Old Trafford this summer.
According to journalist Peter Hall, Malacia could be staying put, with a loan move to Turkish outfit Eyupspor on the verge of collapse.
The Super Lig side have only one recognised left-back in Umut Meras and were desperate to strengthen.
With the Turkish window open until 12 September, the club identified Malacia as a priority and pushed to finalise a loan deal last week.
It was also reported that the two clubs had already reached an agreement and that the deal was expected to be completed soon.
With only a few hours left in the window, the 26-year-old faces the very real prospect of staying put at Old Trafford.
He is one of the five members of the infamous ‘bomb squad’.
Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho have already secured exits this summer.
Previously, La Liga side Elche made a strong attempt to land Malacia but talks broke down before the British transfer deadline day.
The Netherlands international moved to Old Trafford in 2022, becoming the first signing of Erik ten Hag.
His career stalled dramatically after he spent 550 days sidelined with a torn meniscus in his left knee.
He required multiple surgeries before finally returning, but Ruben Amorim does not have a place for him in his plans.
The full-back spent the second half of last season on loan with PSV Eindhoven, yet failed to convince during his stint back in the Eredivisie.
Now entering the final year of his deal, Malacia is set to walk away for free next summer unless United can offload him in time.
