Hojlund gives up day off for Napoli ahead of Fiorentina game
Rasmus Hojlund returned to Napoli training straight after an international game with Denmark to prepare for the next Serie A match against Fiorentina.
New Napoli striker Hojlund trained with the Partenopei for the first time on Tuesday, the day after scoring a goal for Denmark in an away 3-0 win in Greece.
Hojlund trains with Napoli for the first time
Hojlund completed his move to Napoli from Manchester United on deadline day but immediately joined the Denmark national team for games against Scotland and Greece.
As reported by Radio Kiss Kiss and other media outlets, Hojlund arrived at Napoli’s training ground on Tuesday afternoon, just a few hours after his international appearance in Greece.
The Denmark international underwent a recovery session with some strength-based exercises.
Napoli will visit Fiorentina this coming Saturday when Hojlund is expected to make his debut with the defending Serie A champions, even if probably as a substitute.
Lucca still expected to start vs. Fiorentina
Corriere dello Sport reported on Wednesday that Lorenzo Lucca remains favourite to start at the Stadio Franchi this weekend, although Hojlund will fight for a starting spot
Lucca is also a newcomer at the Stadio Maradona, but has not scored in the first two games of the season for the Partenopei.
Following the Fiorentina game, Napoli will travel to Manchester City for their Champions League opener on Thursday, September 18.
