Trevor Story Hits Milestone With Start Vs. Diamondbacks

0 21

Trevor Story’s time with the Boston Red Sox has been marred by injuries. He’s appeared in 139 games this season, well above his previous Red Sox high of 94 games in 2022. In 2023 and 2024, he spent most of the season on the injured list.

He’s been healthy for the entirety of 2025, and by starting on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, he hit a milestone. It was his 88th straight start, tying his career high for consecutive starts. In 2018, he appeared in 157 of 162 games, starting 88 consecutive in the process.

Playing every day has seemingly helped Story’s numbers as well. He’s started every game for the Red Sox since May 26. Over the course of his streak, he’s slashed .283/.331/.500. He’s hit 17 home runs and stolen 17 bases.

Defensively, the metrics aren’t overly fond of Story. He has -2 defensive runs saved and -2 outs above average, both rank him just below the league average for shortstops. He made a costly error in the Red Sox’s loss to the Arizona, but passes the eye test.

Story went 2-3 with a double and an RBI in the Red Sox’s 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
