Patriots Reportedly Get Great News On Injured Rookie Ahead Of Raiders Clash

0 15

The New England Patriots will open the 2025 campaign against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon, but they have several injury issues they are dealing with heading into this game. On Saturday, the team reportedly got some good news regarding rookie left tackle Will Campbell.

In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Pats selected Campbell with the No. 4 overall pick with the hope that he could man the left tackle position for years to come. However, ahead of Week 1, Campbell picked up an ankle injury that limited him at practice on Thursday and Friday.

With that in mind, Campbell ended up getting listed as questionable to play against the Raiders. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, though, Campbell is on track to make his NFL debut in Week 1 despite his aforementioned ailment.

“Patriots rookie OT Will Campbell, listed as questionable (ankle), is on track to play Sunday vs the Raiders, per league source,” Schultz shared in a post on X. “With All-Pro CB Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) already ruled out, Campbell – the top five pick – being a go is key for a New England offensive line set to face Maxx Crosby.”

New England will be thrilled with this update on Campbell, and he’s going to have a big test in his debut. That’s because he will spend time on Sunday lining up against Maxx Crosby, who is one of the most feared pass rushers in the NFL.

As for the bad news regarding the team’s injuries, star cornerback Christian Gonzalez has been ruled out for the game due to a hamstring injury. One of his top potential replacements, Charles Woods, has also been ruled out for this game with a concussion and a groin injury.

Even with these injury troubles, there’s a lot of excitement for the start of the Patriots’ new season. They will be looking to start the year with a win, as kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
