FDNY and NYPD face off in 7th annual charity soccer match
RANDALLS ISLAND, Manhattan (PIX11) — The rivalry is real and it’s all for a good cause.
The NYPD and FDNY will trade in their uniforms for soccer jerseys and face off in the seventh annual Local Ford Classic Charity Soccer Match.
Normally side by side protecting our city, these first responders will be fighting to win on the soccer field to raise funds to honor the memory of fallen heroes, including those lost on 9/11.
The FDNY will play in support of the Firefighter Sergio Villanueva Soccer Foundation, while the NYPD will represent the NY Finest Soccer Club. Both teams have been practicing all year round to win.
Hosted by NYC Football Club and Your Local Ford Stores, the day is about more than soccer; it’s a celebration of service, sacrifice, and community.
It’s at Icahn Stadium on Sunday, September 7. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the match kicks off at 4 p.m. Kids under 12 get in free.
