Roman Anthony Provides Update On Health Post Game
In the bottom of the fourth inning of Tuesday’s game between the Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Guardians, Roman Anthony grabbed his side after striking out. He was removed from the game and replaced by Nate Eaton.
The team announced that Anthony left the game with left oblique tightness. Earlier this season, Anthony missed time with back tightness. The outfielder said this injury felt more severe.
“This is definitely worse, in terms of the way it feels. That’s right now, and I have to reevaluate where I’m at tomorrow and see where we are when the MRI comes back,” Anthony said.
Anthony’s injury earlier this season didn’t require a stint on the injured list. He wasn’t willing to rule that out this time around.
“I don’t know [if the 10-day injured list is a possibility]. I wish I knew. I haven’t dealt with something like this before, so, I’d be lying if I said I knew. Again, we’ll know in the morning, I’m sure,” Anthony said.
Anthony had played in 24 straight games entering Tuesday. He was dominant over the stretch, hitting .305 with six home runs. If he misses extended time, the Red Sox will miss his production on offense. The outfielder isn’t looking forward to time on the shelf.
“It sucks. I’m hoping for the best and staying positive, but any time I’m not out there, I’m pretty pissed off,” Anthony said.
Anthony will likely be on the bench for the Red Sox series finale against the Guardians on Wednesday.
