Key Man Utd star reveals club made him untouchable in transfer window
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has revealed that the club turned down multiple transfer approaches for him this summer.
Speaking during a visit to a holiday camp run by Manchester United Foundation, Maguire indicates that he wants to remained at the club.
He said (via The Times): “I’m pretty sure the club have made it aware this summer that I can’t leave the club on any terms with other clubs inquiring about my things and my position with my contract.
“I’m sure over the next few months they’ll sit down and we’ll have to have a conversation about where we want to go and if they want to extend or the transfer window will open again in January.
“I don’t want to put it out there to everybody but it’s an amazing club to play for and you’d be silly if you wanted to jump out of it as soon as you could.”
Maguire has a key role to play
United triggered a one-year extension clause in his contract back in January, securing his stay until the summer of 2026.
The 32-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence in Manchester.
Many believed his time at the club was finished when former manager Erik ten Hag stripped him of the captaincy.
He was on the brink of joining West Ham United but ultimately stayed to fight for his place.
Maguire has now established himself as a key member of the squad.
Even without the captain’s armband, he is part of Ruben Amorim’s six-man leadership group.
Maguire’s aerial dominance and physical strength in duels make him a formidable presence at the back.
He is also a great passer of the ball and looks at home in a back three.
His assured defending and thrilling contributions in the final third have helped him win over a large section of club supporters.
His valuable experience could help young defenders like Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven to thrive.
We believe United could enter into talks over a new contract later this year.
It will be tough for the club to replace the Englishman cheaply.
