Dundee United v Queen’s Park – Match Preview

Queen’s Park will head north on Sunday as they travel to face Dundee United Women at Foundation Park on Sunday, 17th August in matchday 1 of the Scottish Power Women’s Premier League 2 (SWPL2) 2025/26 season. Kick-off is at 15:30.

The Spiders head into tomorrow’s fixture in fine form, having won 3, drawn one, and lost just one of their pre-season fixtures. A 4-2 home defeat against Montrose last weekend wasn’t the way Queen’s wanted to end their pre-season, but a run of impressive results earlier in the summer and a number of new signings have excited fans.

Dundee will also be looking to bounce back in front of their home crowd, having lost 6-2 last time out against SWPL1 side Hamilton Academical.

Speaking ahead of his first full season as Head coach at Queen’s Park, Iain Robinson said: “We’re happy to have the season underway after a good pre-season.
The squad feel ready to compete after regrouping and recruiting new faces in the summer.

“Dundee Utd are a familiar opponent for us after games against them towards the end of the season, where both games were pretty even. They have new faces in too and will be feeling confident about their chances, so it’s an interesting fixture for the first game of the season.

“We’re looking forward to the fixture and are hopeful of getting a result”.

When asked about the new signings, Iain said: “We’re pleased with our signings and believe we’ve brought in a good mixture of experience and youth.

“Competition for places within the squad is high, and that was something we were looking to create with all the new signings”.
