Report Roma keep Kone and terminate Inter talks
Multiple sources report that Roma have decided to keep Manu Koné and terminate negotiations for a sale to Inter.
The talks had only just started over the last couple of days and seemed to be progressing rapidly towards an agreement for €45m plus add-ons.
However, this evening there are suggestions from Sky Sport Italia, Sport Mediaset and more that Roma have cut off the communication with Inter.
Why Roma decided to reject Koné offers
Following a discussion between coach Gian Piero Gasperini and the club owners, the Friedkin family, it was mutually agreed that Koné is a key part of the squad and will be kept at the Stadio Olimpico.
Alfredo Pedullà maintains that the Giallorossi were also irritated by the suggestion Koné would be sold to raise funds for Jadon Sancho and Leon Bailey, whereas the moves are entirely separate.
The 24-year-old France international was purchased only a year ago from Borussia Monchengladbach for €18m plus €2m in add-ons.
His value on the transfer market has more than doubled, with rumours they were asking for €50m to make a sale.
That is also thanks to his now eight senior caps for France, the first of which was earned after his move to Italy.
