Athekame is a versatile right-sided player, able to play at both full back and further up in the midfield. The 20-year-old, who also has 10 appearances for the Swiss U21 national team, had a strong performance with the Bern-based club last season.
In 30 league games for Young Boys in 2024-25, he recorded two assists and played over 1700 minutes. He also played a big role in the Swiss club’s Champions League campaign, playing in all eight of their group stage games before the team were eliminated.
Prior to joining Young Boys, the Swiss defender played for Xamax and the Bejune youth system.
