Three clubs rejected the chance to sign 21yo Man Utd star, he wants Old Trafford exit
Manchester United are eager to offload Alejandro Garnacho this summer after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Ruben Amorim.
According to Manchester Evening News, three Champions League clubs have turned down an opportunity to sign Garnacho.
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid did due diligence on Garnacho before deciding to explore other options to reinforce their attack.
The 21-year-old moved to Carrington from Atletico Madrid’s youth system in 2020.
He starred for United’s academy, winning the FA Youth Cup and being recognised with the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award.
Former manager Erik ten Hag rated Garnacho highly, handing him his much-deserved debut against Chelsea in 2022.
Despite turning just 21 recently, Garnacho has played nearly 150 times for United’s senior set-up.
The Argentina international has fallen out of favour with Ruben Amorim.
He fired shots at the United head coach after being left out of the starting XI in the UEFA Europa League final earlier this year.
He, alongside four other first-team players, was told to train away from the rest of the squad.
Chelsea have a long-standing interest in him.
Garnacho wants to stay in the Premier League, and Stamford Bridge seems to be his next destination.
Atletico Madrid recruited winger Alex Baena from Villarreal, while Tottenham have switched their focus to Manchester City’s Savinho.
Arsenal also wanted to bolster their squad with a winger and signed Noni Madueke.
United have been abysmal in selling players over the last decade but INEOS are ready to change that outlook.
United wanted at least £50 million to sanction his exit but Chelsea do not want to incur an outlay of more than £30m.
The Red Devils must show a mirror to the London outfit, as they offloaded their winger Madueke in a deal worth around £50m.
Anthony Elanga, Joao Pedro and Mohammed Kudus have also secured transfers at a similar fee.
Garnacho still has three years left on his deal with United, and there is no reason for the club to offer a bargain to their Premier League rivals.
If Chelsea and Garnacho want to join hands, United must aim to get their desired price, even if this transfer saga drags on until the deadline day.
