Newcastle United are "taking a look" at £40m Man Utd star

0 7

Newcastle United are taking a look at Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to The Athletic.

The Denmark international has fallen out of favour at the Red Devils, and he was an unused substitute versus Fiorentina.

Following the game, manager Ruben Amorim did not mention his name when highlighting the absence of a striker upfront.

The Athletic now claim that United have decided to offload Hojlund. There is plenty of interest in his services.

Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan are contenders, while Newcastle are also ‘taking a look’ at the former Atalanta man.

Man Utd could secure the best price for Hojlund from Newcastle

The Dane had a promising debut campaign at United with 10 league goals, but he managed just four last season.

Hojlund had limited service upfront, but things could improve with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo joining the club.

However, United seem reluctant to keep him in the squad after the huge outlay to land RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Hojlund insists that he wants to stay and fight for his spot, but may ultimately consider a fresh challenge elsewhere.

With no European competition, Sesko could be a guaranteed starter for the Red Devils in almost every game next term.

Newcastle would be a good destination for the young striker as they are likely to part ways with Alexander Isak.

Isak is the subject of strong interest from Liverpool and could be permitted to depart once they find a suitable successor.

Hojlund had a disappointing 2024/25 season, but he still possesses great untapped potential.

The former Atalanta man scored in six consecutive league games for United in his debut campaign.

United are looking for at least £40 million to part ways with Hojlund this summer.

Dortmund and Milan may be interested, but the European duo are likely to propose loan deals with options to buy for a lesser fee.

The Magpies, on the other hand, have funds readily available and could be willing to pay most of the £40m sum upfront for Hojlund.

United would ideally prefer to do business with Newcastle for the striker.
