Milan turn to Inter target De Winter as Thiaw heads to Newcastle
Milan have turned their attention to Belgian centre-back Koni De Winter, reports from Italy claim, as Malick Thiaw leaves the Rossoneri to join Premier League club Newcastle United.
With Thiaw on the verge of a move to England, for a reported fee of €35 million plus an additional €5 million in bonuses, the Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that the Rossoneri have called Genoa to ask about De Winter’s availability.
Inter are also interested in a move for De Winter and Milan are not keen on entering a bidding war for the player but it has not yet been enough to deter the Rossoneri.
Milan’s defensive shopping list: the names
De Winter is not the only player that Gazzetta are reporting Milan’s interest in. Allegri likes Giovanni Leoni of Parma but the price is considered too steep, with interest arriving from the Premier League. Information has also been requested about Fiorentina’s Pietro Comuzzo.
Finally, the paper are reporting that the Rossoneri will meet with Chelsea executives today, as the two sides face off in a pre-season friendly, where the likes of Trevor Chalobah, Renato Veiga and Axel Disasi are considered surplus to requirements by the Blues and could be an option for Milan.
Nottingham Forest’s former Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic and Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior are also named as potential options but as Premier League players, may cost more than De Winter or Comuzzo.
