Man United have held 'direct meetings' with 26yo transfer target, Amorim is his 'big fan'

Manchester United have no plans to hit the brakes this summer, with their eyes now locked on their next high-profile target.

United confirmed the signing of young sensation Benjamin Sesko earlier today, and they are now progressing to sign another superstar.

According to reliable X account Sully Talkz, United have held direct meetings with Paris Saint-Germain star Gianluigi Donnarumma.

United head coach Ruben Amorim is a ‘big fan of Donnarumma’ and is keen to bring him to Old Trafford.

The Italy international played a pivotal role in helping PSG win the coveted UEFA Champions League last season.

He joined the French outfit in 2021 and won four Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France and three Trophees des Champions.

PSG have agreed a deal for Lille shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier, making Donnarumma’s future uncertain at the Parc des Princes.

United need to upgrade their goalkeeping department after poor performances over the last two seasons from Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Onana is currently nursing a hamstring injury and did not play in any of the pre-season friendlies.

He is expected to return to the team for the Premier League opener against Arsenal next weekend.

The 29-year-old has made several costly errors and has seen a growing section of the fanbase lose faith in his reliability.

Bayindir is not a reliable back-up and could also be heading for the Old Trafford exit.

While Donnarumma would be a sensational addition, INEOS face a race against time to pull off the move with only three weeks left in the window.

The 26-year-old is already drawing a paycheck of around £210,000 per week.

INEOS want to decrease the pressure on the wage bill and they may not offer a salary increase to Donnarumma.
