Milan work on new contact for Aston Villa target Saelemaekers
Aston Villa are interested in signing Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers, reports from Italy claim, but the Rossoneri are not desperate to part ways with the Belgian and will therefore only sell if they receive a suitable offer.
According to what has been claimed by Tuttosport, via TuttoMercatoWeb, the Premier League side are pushing a move for the 26-year-old but the player would prefer to stay in Italy.
For Milan’s part, new head coach Massimiliano Allegri is a fan of the player and wishes to have him available to him but the reports claim the Rossoneri may reconsider should an offer of €20-25 million arrive for the player.
Villa and Milan tug-of-war over Saelemaekers
Milan are also plotting a renewal for Saelemaekers, in order to discourage interested parties like Villa and to tie the player to the Rossoneri long-term. The reports suggest that once the transfer window closes, the Belgian winger could be offered a new contract lasting up to 2029 or even 2030.
Saelemaekers spent last season on loan with Roma from Milan and the Giallorossi expressed a reported desire to keep him in the Italian capital. However, he returned to Milan and now, in face of fresh interest for the winger, the contract extension is next on their list of things to discuss.
