Bay host Nomads in Cymru Premier opener
THE Bay make their JD Cymru Premier return on Sunday when they host Connah’s Quay Nomads at The Blue Turtle Arena (Kick-Off 5pm).
Sunday’s game will be Mike Wilde’s first JD Cymru Premier match as manager and will be against the club whom he and assistant Danny Harrison won the league title with twice.
Another member of those title winning sides, John Disney, is now manager of Nomads following his appointment in May.
“Connah’s Quay are a very well-established club in this division that have won the league twice,” Wildey said.
“I was fortunate to be a part of that and was fortunate to have won Welsh Cups.
“But football’s football, it goes out the window when you cross that line.
“We’ll shake hands and I’m sure we’ll catch up at some point but it’ll be a competitive game.
“But the lads are going to fully embrace the challenge and so are me and Danny.”
While Bay’s season began with defeat in the Nathaniel MG Cup, Connah’s Quay were 9-0 winners away to Ruthin Town.
Notable arrivals during the summer are the return of Harry Franklin and Zeli Ismail joining from Newtown.
The Bay have made 13 signings over the summer including former Nomads players Aron Williams, Aeron Edwards and Jordan Davies.
Jordan along with Mike Wilde scored for Nomads the last time the sides met in the JD Cymru Premier, with the visitors winning 3-2 in November 2023.
