Report: Como, Milan and Galatasaray close to settling Morata compensation
Thursday’s reports claim that Como, Milan and Galatasaray are close to settling a compensation agreement to break the terms of Alvaro Morata’s loan agreement, which will then free him up for a permanent move to return to Serie A.
For several weeks, Cesc Fabregas has been pushing to bring his friend and former colleague Morata to Como after a disappointing 2024-25 season that saw him join Milan from Atletico Madrid in the summer, only to be loaned out to Galatasaray by January.
Como have been keen to offer Morata another chance in Serie A, and have had an agreement in place with parent club Milan for his signing for quite some time already.
However, the proceedings have been slowed down by Galatasaray, who are seeking compensation given that their loan agreement for Morata was due to last until January 2026, potentially until June 2026 with a series of buy options included.
Milan, Como and Gala close to settling Morata fee
The involved parties have been haggling over a compensation fee for Galatasaray for most of this week. Earlier reports claimed that Como had been prepared to pay around €3m themselves for the termination of Morata’s deal with Galatasaray, while Football Italia’s Alfredo Pedulla reports that there is some reluctance to pay the extra fees.
Now, reports from Fabrizio Romano claim that Morata’s loan deal with Galatasaray will be broken for a fee of around €5m.
If that does prove to be the case, then Milan and Como can progress with finalising the deal. The two clubs already have an agreement over an initial loan deal and an obligation to buy for a fee in the region of €10m.
