Resurgent Trevor Story Helps Keep Red Sox Hot Streak Alive
The Boston Red Sox offense is red hot, and shortstop Trevor Story is in the middle of it.
Story went 2-4 with three RBIs in the Red Sox’s 6-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. During the team’s seven-game winning streak, Story is hitting .480 with 11 RBIs. Story seems to come up with runners on base in each at-bat and manages to drive them in every time.

“It’s nothing crazy, honestly,” Story said, as seen on the NESN postgame show. “Just being convicted in my plan and that’s it. Keeping it simple and keeping it short. When stuff like that happens, big things can happen for us.”
Red Sox manager Alex Cora commended Story for continuing to keep the line moving this season.
“Just put the ball in play; that matters. It doesn’t matter how hard you hit it, but put it in play. If you swing and miss, you don’t have a chance. [Story] has made some adjustments, credit to him,” Cora said. “There’s a reason he hits fourth.”
Story came up in the sixth inning with two runners on, and he singled them both in. In the seventh, he singled in another run as the Red Sox blew the game open. The seventh-inning rally was instrumental in giving Aroldis Chapman and Garrett Whitlock a day off.
Only Greg Weissert and Jordan Hicks pitched out of the bullpen on Tuesday. The Red Sox will start Dustin May for the first time on Wednesday and have a rested bullpen behind him before an off-day on Thursday.
