Ruben Amorim uses intriguing device to prep Man United stars for new season
Manager Ruben Amorim is leaving no stone unturned as he prepares for his first full season in charge of Manchester United.
The Portuguese coach led United to their worst-ever Premier League finish last term and is under pressure to start the new season strongly.
According to the Daily Mail, Amorim uses a hi-tech GPS gadget to collect data on United players during pre-season training.
The technology is provided by STATSports, whose partnership with Man United was renewed last month.
The technological company also works with Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton, Brentford, Crystal Palace, Wolves, and Burnley.
STATSports’ Apex 2.0 GPS performance tracker is ‘the only tracker to receive FIFA’s highest performance certification’.
The device, which sits between the shoulder blades, transmits real-time data including training intensity and fitness levels.
In addition, beacons will be installed at Old Trafford and Carrington, while portable beacons can be used for away games or remote training camps, as seen in the US tour.
This explains why Amorim declared that there is no hiding place for his stars, as the tech device reveals detailed insights about their performance in training.
It also helps the coaching staff to save an estimated 20 hours a week, which they could now spend on deeper analysis.
Amorim will be hoping that this translates into results on the pitch as preparation for the new season continues.
United have enjoyed a good form in pre-season, going unbeaten in four games and winning the Premier League summer series on Sunday.
They will round up their pre-season against Serie A outfit Fiorentina at Old Trafford on Saturday.
United have been handed a tough start to the new Premier League season, beginning with a home clash against Arsenal. They will also face local rivals, Manchester City and Chelsea, in their first five fixtures.
