Club are striving to sign £50m Man Utd star and Bundesliga ace - Journalist

Chelsea could sign a Manchester United player for the second year in a row.

The Blues landed the signature of Jadon Sancho on loan from the Red Devils last summer.

The deal had an obligation to buy for £25 million if they finished above 15th in the Premier League.

Chelsea terminated the agreement by triggering a £5m penalty clause.

Fabrizio Romano now reports that Chelsea are pursuing a deal for United winger Alejandro Garnacho alongside RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons.

Garnacho is also keen on joining the west London outfit, but no talks have been held with United yet.

Garnacho looks poised to leave Man Utd this summer

The Argentina international had a relatively good 2024/25 season with 21 goal involvements.

However, the majority of those involvements came outside of the Premier League, where United had a dismal campaign, finishing 15th with only 42 points on the board.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have been added to the ranks this summer, and the attacking pair should be guaranteed starters under manager Ruben Amorim.

Garnacho is unlikely to accept a bench role to stay. He could get more starts with the Blues, who could be eyeing a competitor alongside Jamie Gittens on the left wing.

The Blues could step up their pursuit of Garnacho as soon as they secure a deal for Simons. It appears only a matter of time before they make a formal transfer bid.

The Red Devils are eyeing close to £50 million for their talented graduate, but the Blues could seek to discuss a discount due to the lack of competition to sign him.

With Garnacho’s reluctance to leave the Premier League, the London giants have a free run at landing his signature, as he also wants to join a Champions League outfit.
