Roma send Saud Abdulhamid to RC Lens rather than Toulouse
Roma have reportedly agreed to send Saudi Arabia international full-back Saud Abdulhamid to RC Lens rather than Toulouse FC, on a dry loan.
There had already been rumours that the player was heading towards Ligue 1 this summer, but the precise destination within France has changed.
According to Footmercato, the negotiations with Toulouse broke down because the club was hampered by the limits on non-EU players within their current squad.
Instead, RC Lens stepped in with a proposal and are expected to sign him on loan until the end of the season, without an option to make it permanent.
Saud Abdulhamid struggled to play at Roma
Abdulhamid just celebrated his 26th birthday earlier this month and made the transfer to Roma from Al-Hilal for €2.5m in August 2024.
He struggled to break into the first team, making just eight appearances for the Giallorossi between Serie A and the Europa League.
There was nonetheless an impact, with one goal and one assist from right-back.
