Emerson Royal Leaves Milan

Emerson Royal has left Milan to head back to his birth country of Brazil. After his summer 2024 transfer to Milan was almost immediately considered a flop to the tune of €15 million paid to Tottenham the Brazilian was likely to be sold.

Milan, the perennial poor sellers, were expected to not a find a buyer for the right back. A Besiktas loan with option to buy emerged a few days ago and it was thought that Milan would need to prepare for a player’s inevitable return in the summer of 2026. However, Flamengo jumped in to hijack the Turkish club’s big and offered to pay for a full transfer. A reported fee of €9 million has been deemed enough and the player has signed with the Rubro-Negro.

It is at least concerning to see that Flamengo found room for Royal only after selling Wesley to Roma. Milan fans should be concerned that Roma can afford to pay a reported €25 million for a right back before are able to find one.

Milan’s will now search for a right back with the most rumoured name being Strasbourg’s Guela Doue. The brother of PSG’s Desire Doue.
