Poole Town 3-0 Fareham Town – Match Report

0 2

With the season set to get underway in under two weeks time, Poole Town certainly look in a good position following a convincing 3-0 win over Fareham Town on Saturday.

The Dolphins sent out a strong starting eleven for the fixture against the Hampshire-based side with the likes of Kris Campbell and Shaq Gwengwe starting.

The game kicked off with both sides testing eachother out early on and neither team able to create any clear cut chances.

The first major chance of the match fell to Kris Campbell, as his effort narrowly deflected wide for a corner.

The deadlock was broken on the 33rd minute after Campbell’s effort braced the bar, fell to the feet of Corey Jordan who flashed the ball across the face of goal for Gwengwe to head home.

With the Dolphins in front and in search of a second, Ik Hill’s intricate footwork lead to a fantastic strike which was tipped onto the crossbar.

The half time whistle was blown with Poole in the commanding position at the break with a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the second 45 got underway, Poole did double their lead as Ryan Campbell fired a shot goalwards and it fell to Henry Spalding who comfortably slotted it in the side netting.

With a 2-0 lead in this one, the Dolphins were in full control of the possession and looked relatively at ease knocking the ball about.

With Twenty minutes to play, Tyrrell Sampson and Selim Saied were introduced to try and add a third.

Fareham had their best chance of the match on the 75th minute which produced a brilliant diving save from Adam Parkes to ensure his clean sheet was kept in tact.

The Dolphins finally found their third on the 78th minute and it was Shaq Gwengwe again who fired it home to put Fareham out of sight and ensure Poole continue their winning streak.

Next up for Joe Lea and Pat Suraci’s side is a trip to Ringwood on Tuesday followed by Salisbury at home on Saturday.
