Club now propose £16.6m to sign 25yo Man Utd star after agreeing personal terms - report
Juventus are open to signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho this summer after finding an agreement on personal terms, according to Corriere dello Sport (page 2).
The England international has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Red Devils, and he has been left out of the pre-season tour of the United States to resolve his future.
Corriere dello Sport today claim that Sancho has a full agreement on personal terms with Juventus. He has accepted a huge pay cut and will earn around £5.25 million per year.
However, the clubs are still far apart on the transfer fee. United want around £21.9m for the wide player, but Juventus general director Damien Comolli has stopped at £16.6m.
An intermediary is negotiating behind the scenes to find a suitable agreement.
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport add that Sancho’s transfer entirely depends on Juventus finding a new buyer for Nico Gonzalez. They value the Argentine in the region of £26m.
Sancho could secure a late departure from Man Utd
The 25-year-old signed for Premier League rivals Chelsea on loan last summer with an obligation to buy for £25m if they finished higher than 14th in the standings.
The Blues had also agreed on a £5m penalty clause and subsequently nullified the agreement using it. Sancho is expected to find a new club and has reportedly chosen Juventus.
A £5.3m valuation gap remains between the clubs. In our opinion, a middle ground could be reached for a package of around £19-20m with possible performance add-ons.
United are poised for a significant loss on their investment in Sancho (£73m), but they can get his hefty £250,000 per week salary off their wage bill ahead of next season.
In our view, a transfer could be delayed until the final phase of the window, given that the Bianconeri first need to part ways with Gonzalez to recoup funds and free up space in the squad.
Serie A clubs are allowed a maximum of three non-EU players, but there is a special incentive to sign one English player from abroad per transfer window, which won’t count towards this quota.
