Multiple Patriots Legends Named To MMQB’s All-Quarter Century Team
The New England Patriots were a powerhouse for 20 years, beginning with the 2001-2002 season when their first Lombardi trophy made its way to Foxborough. And with that, they had many legendary players over the years who not only cemented themselves in Patriots history — but also NFL history.
The MMQB recently released their All-Quarter Century Team from 2000 through 2025, with numerous players from New England’s dynasty making the list. It was voted on by MMQB’s Albert Breer, Conor Orr, Gilberto Manzano, Matt Verderame, John Pluym, and Mitch Goldich.
As expected, quarterback Tom Brady was named to the first team, with Patrick Mahomes on the second team and Payton Manning on the third team. Lamar Jackson also received votes, but Brady was the clear winner.
Next up was wide receiver Randy Moss, who also earned first-team honors, which was quite an accomplishment considering this was considered “the most crowded ballot.”
One of the most shocking decisions was seeing tight end Rob Gronkowski on the second team, with Travis Kelce being named to the first team over the Patriots legend.
“He received four first-place votes, barely edging Gronkowski for first-team honors,” the MMQB wrote. “Gronk won four Super Bowls (one with the Buccaneers) and has a better reputation as an exceptional blocker. He made four first-team All-Pro teams, with more seasons marred by injury. His 92 receiving touchdowns are third, behind Gates (116) and Gonzalez (96) among tight ends in the period.”
Defensive tackle Richard Seymour received nine votes, which earned him second-team honors.
And then for special teams, kicker Adam Vinatieri was named to the first team, beating out former Ravens’ kicker Justin Tucker by two votes. Stephen Gostkowski also received votes. As for the best core special-teamers, that honor went to none other than Matthew Slater.
