Red Sox Manager Alex Cora Unfazed By Outside Noise
The Boston Red Sox entered the All-Star break red hot. After the break, they lost their first two games to the Chicago Cubs and never really looked like a threat to win either game.
On Sunday, they rallied from behind and took the third game of the series, 6-1. For fans, the win was a relief. A monkey off their back.
For Red Sox manager Alex Cora, it was just another win. He was asked if the vibes had changed following the win after the game.
“We feel good about ourselves,” Cora said. “We let the world talk about losing streaks, and second halves and all that.”
The Red Sox haven’t been good after the break in each of the last few years. The talent level on this iteration of the team feels like a level above previous teams. The pitching staff, in particular, is much more experienced.
With the trade deadline looming, the next few series will be important for Boston. Three of their next four opponents are division leaders. The Minnesota Twins are the only exception, although they took two of three from the Red Sox earlier this season.
