Report: Liverpool player and the club on the same page after showdown talks with Arne Slot

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez has been linked with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.

He had an underwhelming season with the Reds, scoring just seven goals in all competitions. According to TBR Football, Liverpool manager Arne Slot held honest conversations with the player towards the end of last season, and he was informed that he would not be a key player for the club going forward.

It seems that the player has now accepted the club’s decision and is willing to leave them. The player is valued at £65 million, and Saudi Arabian clubs could be able to provide him with an exit route. The player was initially keen on staying in Europe, but Nunez’ high valuation has not gone down well with his European suitors. 

The player is now open to moving to Saudi Arabia, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool can accelerate his departure. They are looking to improve the attacking unit this summer, and they have been linked with Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. 

Both players were excellent for their respective clubs last season, and they could help Liverpool improve. The Premier League champions need someone reliable to lead the line for them. Nunez has struggled with his finishing and decision-making in the final third. Replacing him this summer would be ideal. 

Liverpool need a reliable finisher

Liverpool created numerous opportunities last season, but they failed to put away those chances, and it cost them in big games. A reliable finisher could make a huge difference for them. 

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old South American will look to get his career back on track with regular football at another club. Nunez struggled for regular game time at Liverpool last season. He was regarded as a world-class talent during his time at Benfica, and it remains to be seen whether he can get back to that level.
